Pre & Stage 1 support is for young people who are not yet ready to move into mainstream employability programmes, and that is completely okay. Some young people need more time, more consistency and a quieter, more supported environment before taking the next step. Pathways to Grow offers one day a week of small group support in local, accessible venues, taking the time to build trust, confidence and independence before moving on to anything else. There is no pressure and no rush, just the right support at the right pace.Â
ASDAN Life Skills Challenges
The ASDAN Life Skills Challenges provide a flexible, nationally recognised framework that sits at the heart of Pathways to Grow. Using practical, real life activities rather than formal exams, participants work towards goals across areas such as managing money, preparing meals, building confidence and communicating with others. Each challenge is person centred and achievable, removing the pressure of conventional learning and replacing it with something that feels purposeful, accessible and genuinely rewarding.
The National Outdoor Learning Award is woven throughout Pathways to Grow, using the outdoors as a space for personal development. Built around six core values including safety, respect and well-being, the award recognises eighteen personal development skills in a flexible, inclusive way. For young people who find traditional settings overwhelming, outdoor sessions offer a calmer environment where confidence and communication can grow naturally, celebrating progress that might otherwise go unnoticed.
